Delicious & Healthy Chocolate Candy Recipe

This is my favorite chocolate recipe. For those who know me, I love natural health and there is nothing more important than a healthy diet. Granted, this is no beet salad but hey, it keeps you away from the GMO candy bars! (Yeah, Hershey’s has non-gmo candy bars in Europe, but not in the US)! And cacao has more antioxidant power than any fruit you could eat. Strawberries have an ORAC value (antioxidant value) of about 5,000 and cacao is somewhere around 55,000!!

Homemade Chocolate Candy Recipe

5min. prep

2 hours freezer time

  • 1/2 c. coconut oil
  • 1/2 c. real maple syrup
  • 1/2 c. organic cocoa powder
  • 1 t. organic vanilla
  • 1/2 t. sea salt
  • Optional: Nuts (whatever you prefer, I like walnut), coconut shreds, dried fruit
Add all ingredients into a saucepan over low/low-medium heat until it is all mixed together. This only takes a few minutes. Then you can add any additional ingredients you want (see above, optional).
You can then either fill ice cube trays/candy molds or place parchment/wax paper on a cookie sheet, take a spoon and make quarter sized candies on it, or place wax paper in a glass pan and just pour all the chocolate in at once (then you can break it off like candy bark). Place in freezer and wait until firm! (Or if you are inpatient like me, your fingers may end up with some chocolate on them before they are firm). After they are firm you can transfer them to a plastic bag and, if you have any leftovers, put them back in the freezer.
